To update ad units, developers can select ‘Ad units’ under the pubCenter’s setup tab:
From there, choose the specific ad unit to be updated:
Select ‘edit’ to associate the specified ad unit with a specific application:
After the mobile ad unit has been associated to an application, users can select a Category and Subcategory (if a subcategory is available) for each ad unit. According to Microsoft, selected Categories should reflect the same categories selected in the Windows Phone Dev Center.
Once updates have been made, users are instructed to save their updates and continue the process for each of their Mobile Ad Units. The announcement makes clear that any Ad units not updated by September 12 will stop serving ads.
