ipadAccording to ad network Chitika, US and Canadian iPad traffic has reached a new high relative to other tablets in the market. Later today, Apple will release its quarterly earnings amid dampened expectations.

According to the study, which was conducted in June and based on “tens of millions of US and Canadian tablet online ad impressions running through the Chitika Ad Network,” the Apple tablet’s share has grown to 84.3 percent from 82.4 percent in May.

Among non-iPads, Kindle was in second place with 5.7 percent of North American tablet traffic. That was down from 7.4 percent in April. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab followed Kindle with 4.2 percent. This dismal showing by Samsung stands in marked contrast to its dominance of the smartphone market.

Beyond Kindle and Galaxy, Nook and the Nexus 7 were tied in fourth place with 1.2 percent. We anticipate Google will introduce a new Nexus 7 later this week at a special Chrome event.
