What happened on Vine over this past week? Vine took to E3, The X Factor showed its new judges, HTC has an Inception-like Vine within a Vine within a Vine and more.

As a quick introduction, I’m Kai Turner, co-founder of Brands On Vine. We gather data on what’s popular on Vine. I’m looking forward to continuing this new feature, This Week On Vine, which Marketing Land started last week. I’ll be sharing Vines that seem noteworthy base on our data, as well as submissions Marketing Land has received.

E3 — the Electronic Entertainment Expo — is the leading event for announcements in the video game industry. Vine was used at the show, with E3 itself shared a well-tweeted look at the doors opening to the expo:

As one of the two big players at E3, Sony Playstation received a lot of attention as fans clamored for any new information about coming PS4. Sony itself did a short vine from the booth, featuring a sign rather than the new game console:

Rival Xbox used Vine to do a short booth tour:

Established video game franchises like Call of Duty used the event, and Vine, to tease previews of the upcoming new games:

For the Cloud Expo show, SHI Cloud produced a series of Vines, including how to find its booth:

Back to entertainment, XFactor USA got started with the judges being introduced on Vine, and highlights from the New Orleans auditions proved extremely popular with fans using the hashtag #XFNOLA throughout the show:

NBC’s rival, The Voice, also shared a few clips which, although successful, were shared only 14% as much as those by XFactor. We wonder if it correlates to the difference in viewership.

Arrested Development promoted its new series on Netflix by having actor/producer Ron Howard, who also narrates the show, lend his talents to narrating voicemail answer messages for lucky Twitter followers:

Sports clips were shared on both sides of the Atlantic. In basketball, the NBA shared the Spurs celebrating a victory in the NBA Final, which gained many retweets:

In the UK, Chelsea Football Club manager Jose Mourinho revealed the new team jersey, another heavily retweeted clip:

Elsewhere, HTC posted, then deleted, a Vine answering how to take a screenshot with the HTC One. Maybe it was dropped because it wasn’t widely shared? The original Vine is still available:

HTC’s been pretty busy on Vine, from high production efforts like Android figures gathered around an HTC One “swimming pool,” as you can see below:

Or “HTCeption,” a take on Inception with a Vine within a Vine within a Vine:

Or a simple “Unboxing from our point of view” clip:
