Billed as the first-ever trick or treating event on Twitter, Honda, in partnership with Just Born’s Mike and Ike candy brand, have launched a, well, tweet-for-candy campaign.

On Friday, October 31, those that tweet a picture of themselves in costume with the hashtag #TreatPromo will receive a reply from Honda with a link to a spooky Vine video and a coupon for a free box of Mike and Ike candy.

To promote the campaign, both Honda and Mike and Ike are using promoted tweets with video cards on Twitter, as well as posts on their respective Facebook pages.

Of the promotion and its timely simplicity, Honda AVP of Advertising Tom Peyton said, “In the spirit of Halloween, we wanted a simple and unique way to show some appreciation to our fans. Innovation is at the heart of our brand. Why not look at innovating something as fun as trick or treating?”

Along with the Twitter and Facebook promotion, Honda has also produced five “eerie” Vine videos that feature the new CR-V hatchback opening up to reveal some Halloween craziness. The first two are Skeleton and Gnome.
