The automaker has announced the “Your Door to More” contest, which gives Nissan fans a chance to help the company promote the 2014 Nissan Versa Note automobile.

They’ll do that by visiting YourDoorToMore.com and downloading a cut-out “kit,” then using either one of the 2D photos or the small cardboard 3D version of the car to make Instagram or Vine videos. Here’s one of the earliest entries we’ve seen on Vine:

Three Grand Prize winners may have their videos featured in a Nissan TV commercial later this year, and also get a $1,000 Amazon gift card. Nissan will also choose three First Prize winners that just get the gift card.

The contest ends at 11:59 pm ET on August 5th.

Brands have been tapping into social media for commercial ideas for several years now, often in conjunction with major ad campaigns surrounding the Super Bowl. This, as far as I know, is the first brand campaign that taps into Vine and/or Instagram’s new video product to crowdsource TV commercial material.
