instagram-logo-200pxInstagram 4.1 is now available with a couple new features — one of which should be very welcome for brands and marketers.

The new app allows users to upload pre-made videos from your mobile device’s video library and share them on Instagram no matter how or when they were made. One immediate thought comes to mind: Think of all the brands that have 15-second commercials they might want to share simultaneously on Instagram and television.

(As an aside, it seems to me that some brands/users have already been doing this. I don’t know if they had special access to this feature, or if they figured out how to import library videos separately … or even if I’m correct, for that matter.)

The video doesn’t have to be 15-seconds to import, either. Instagram says users can edit down videos before they’re shared.

Other updates include a photo straightening tool in the Instagram iOS app, and the addition of video capabilities to the Instagram app available to Android 4.0 users.
