To Help Dial In Global Efforts Twitter Picks Up ZipDial
Not wanting to miss the call on a ZipDial acquisition, Twitter has acquired the company to strengthen its global foothold.
The social media experience varies greatly based on region. Twitter has made significant strides to globalize and a new acquisition of ZipDial will help further their reach.
ZipDial is a unique platform that serves emerging markets and folks that aren’t as advanced technologically. One notable service of the platform is the usage of “missed calls” for communication. The issues that arrive in developing countries like India, Indonesia or even Brazil are high costs of data and low “smart-ness” of phones. The ability to place toll free “missed calls” as a form of a page for more information has become popular in these locations as a no-cost form of communication. Marketers can see these calls and send out specific messaging to users.
Twitter has previously worked with ZipDial on a handful of campaigns including the Indian Elections, @MTVIndia’s #RockTheVote and this will further cement their foothold in these emerging markets.
