Working with Raleigh-based Baldwin&, skin care brand Burt’s Bees will host a live web event Wednesday, September 17 at 4PM EST. Burt’s Bees Founder Burt Shavitz, who launched the company 30 years ago, will read aloud “birthday messages to the bees” chosen from social media posts tagged with #BurtsBeeDay.

Shavitz, who will be doing these readings from his home in Parkman, Maine, will be accompanied by improv actor Dan Chamberlain along with the bluegrass band Tumbling Bones. Oh, and there will be real, live bees too.

The readings will be broken up by short segments including “Greetings from our sponsors” (fruits, the sun); “Burtisms” (“What a bear does in the woods is his own business.”); child-taught “Burt Learns Social”s (Lesson 1: Hashtags) plus various other Burt- and bee-related trivia.

All the birthday messages tagged #BurtsBeeDay, including the ones that Burt doesn’t read, will be housed on the campaign website, Burts Bee Day, as well as on the brand’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Plenty of wishes are being sent
