Adobe unveiled significant updates to its Firefly service, positioning it as a comprehensive, all-in-one home for digital marketers looking to streamline content creation.

The revamped Firefly platform integrates Adobe’s generative AI, as well as genAI from OpenAI and Google, to improve ideation, creation and production of content formats from a single interface.

Generative model updates include:

  • Firefly Image Model 4 and Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra offer improved image quality and creative control over the structure and style of outputs, including control over camera angles and zooms. It allows for rapid exploration and iteration of concepts. Images can be generated up to 2K resolution. Image Model 4 Ultra renders complex scenes with small structures.
  • The Firefly Video Model, now generally available, lets users generate 1080p video clips from text prompts or images. These can be fine-tuned using detailed camera settings and atmospheric and custom motion design elements.
  • The Adobe Vector Model lets designers create editable vector-based artwork, logo variations, product packaging, icons, scenes and patterns with text prompts.

App users can now also use models from Google Cloud (Imagen 3, Veo 2, Flux 1.1 Pro) and OpenAI (image generation). Additional models, including fal.ai, Ideogram, Luma, Pika and Runway, are expected to be added later this year.

Other additions include:

  • Integration with Creative Cloud. Firefly integrates with Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Express, offering AI assistance throughout content creation. Some Firefly features are now included in Creative Cloud apps. For example, Generative Extend in Premiere Pro can add AI-generated clips to prolong a shot.
  • Firefly Boards. Available in public beta, Firefly Boards provides an AI-first surface for moodboarding, storyboarding, brainstorming and exploring creative concepts. Users can iterate on variations and collaborate on ideation. Boards make it faster for teams to collaborate on ideas. They also let users mash up images to create a hybrid concept.
  • Firefly Services. This collection of generative AI and creative APIs brings Adobe’s AI capabilities into business content production workflows. They can accelerate tasks such as resizing assets for marketing channels. The APIs in beta include Photoshop, Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video. The Text-to-Image and Avatar APIs are out of beta and fully available.
  • Transparency and Creator Rights. Content Credentials are automatically attached to AI-generated content. A beta Content Authenticity app lets creators verify their identity and indicate if they prefer their work not to be used for AI model training.

The updated Firefly is available on the web now, with a mobile app coming soon. Firefly Boards is available in public beta.
