Email designer updates take center stage in Adobe Marketo July updates
Improvements to the new email designer headline the July Marketo Engage release, but REST API updates and identity deprecations are also worth reviewing.
Adobe Marketo Engage began rolling out its July 2025 product updates on July 11, 2025, and enhancements are rolling out to customers throughout the month.
The July release brings major improvements to the email designer Marketo introduced at the start of 2025, the tool’s API infrastructure and administrative tools.
There are also several important deprecation and identity transition announcements you’ll need to act on.
Here is a breakdown of the key releases, grouped by category.
Email designer updates
New features for the WYSIWYG email designer should help improve flexibility, collaboration, and control. Email designer updates include:
Custom CSS in email designer: It’s now possible to add your own custom CSS directly within the email designer to style email content with more control.
Support for moving assets and program deletion: You can now move email assets between programs and delete programs that contain new designer emails.
Firefox support: There is now full support for the email designer in the Mozilla Firefox browser.
Simulate content from the properties page: Now you can preview content directly from email properties without re‑opening the editor.
Role‑based access control (RBAC) – Read permissions: This update adds “read” permissions to existing RBAC options (edit, approve, delete) for email designer assets.
Edit email properties for published emails: It’s now possible to edit email property fields even after publishing.
Select branding domain and domain IP configuration per email asset: This update allows you to assign a specific branding domain and IP configuration to each email.
GenStudio integration: Adobe GenStudio will soon integrate into email workflows, allowing performance marketers to build and deploy brand-aligned emails faster.
REST API and field management enhancements
APIs and admin interfaces received important visibility and usability upgrades during the July release. :
REST API error code notification updates: In-app alerts now support two more REST error classes 606 – Max Rate Limit Exceeded and 607 – Daily Quota Reached.
Display program member standard fields in Field Management: Both standard and custom fields tied to Program Members are now viewable.
REST API names in Field Management: Marketo Engage admins can see REST API field names directly within the Field Management UI.
Munchkin cookies and ECIDs viewable in person details: You can now view a person’s Munchkin cookie D and ECID in the Info tab without an API call.
Announcements and deprecations
The July release also included a number of critical infrastructure changes and deadlines.
