A Look Inside Twitter’s New San Francisco Headquarters [PHOTOS]

You may know that Twitter recently moved. The growing company has new digs at Market Square, a decidedly not-very-modern-looking property that was completed in 1937. (It’s classic California Art Deco, as you’ll see below.)

But make no mistake, the interior of Twitter’s space is decidedly hip, technically capable and seems to fit the company like a glove — at least the portions that several Marketing Land/Search Engine Land editors were allowed to see during a visit last week.

We thought we’d share a few of the photos that we took and, at the end, we’ll include a slideshow of photos from Twitter itself.

Twitter HQ: 1355 Market Street

Twitter’s new offices are located at 1355 Market Street, very close to the Civic Center Plaza and the city’s theater district. Here’s a shot of the main entry exterior:

The building was originally the Western Furniture Exchange and Merchandise Mart, and that’s still the name on the exterior wall as you approach.

Twitter’s main lobby (on the 9th floor) pays tribute to its bird logo: If I recall correctly, those are actual tree branches in the wall and the front of the reception desk.

The reception desk itself is made, in part, from wood that was previously part of the lanes of a bowling alley. (That’s our Editor-in-Chief, Danny Sullivan, checking in.)

The 800-or-so employees in this office have a fantastic roof-top garden/dining/social area that they can enjoy when the San Francisco weather cooperates. Here are a few photos of this area:

Right inside from there is the employee cafeteria. The daily menu is separated into different types of dishes and appropriately labeled with either hashtags or @ names. The #comfort food area is shown below. Other areas have names like @birdfeeder and #tenderloin.

We were only able to make a short visit and didn’t get a chance to go into the main office area. But not to worry: The day before our visit, Twitter itself posted a Flickr photo album with about two dozen photos from all parts of the building — including the yoga room, board room, lounge and more.
