Today, Foursquare users can upgrade to the highly anticipated new Foursquare App. As shown in the previous sneak previews, the new app features high style, and a streamlined look, that could finally make Foursquare a serious Yelp competitor. One of the elements that Foursquare is touting in the new app is the smart learning based off of your tastes and the simple, accurate recommendations the app will  provide.

Users can enter in their tastes and then have recommendations delivered to them that match based on proximity. The value proposition here is that everyone should have to read the same reviews and see the exact same information when trying to make decisions. Instead reviews and recommendations should be customized to each individual, helping to save time. As mentioned before, the app will also feature a prominent local search feature for those who want do their own due diligence.

In the release Foursquare takes a bit of a shot at Yelp saying:

“The new Foursquare frees you from having to read long, random reviews, wondering if those people share your tastes. With Foursquare, find things based on your tastes, the places you like, and the friends and experts you trust most.”

The new Foursquare app looks fantastic and the customized recommendations and reviews angle could be a hit. To see the new software for yourself download the new app today or see the official post for more information.
