Visa Takes Over Madison Square Park With Giant #StartWeekending Installation
The financial services company is trying to associate its brand with weekend fun.
Yesterday, with help from MRY, Visa erected a large chalk board in Madison Square Park in New York City. The board read, “I want to be…” and the rest of the board was just a bunch of blank lines for people to fill in what they’d like to be doing.
The installation is part of the brand’s broader #StartWeekending campaign that encourages people to engage in weekend-like activities even though it might be a Monday. Or a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
Here’s how MRY kicked the day off on their Facebook page:
And here’s the wall on Instagram video:

The campaign also includes native advertising placements with Buzzfeed, one of which was published yesterday and was entitled, “16 Breakfast Foods to Make Mondays Feel Like Fundays. The article suggests such creations as apple fritter waffle donuts, Vietnamese coffee pops, bacon and egg breakfast pizza, bacon and egg risotto and more.
Many people stopped by and added their desires to the board:
