YouTube is making it easier for creators to film a livestream using their desktop by adding a “Go Live” link in the YouTube header or by going straight to youtube.com/webcam.

“If you’ve ever tried to set up a live stream from your computer using an encoder, you know there can be a few steps involved. Today, we’re making the process as easy as a couple of clicks,” writes YouTube Live Video Product Manager Vadim Lavrusik on the YouTube Creator Blog.

According to YouTube, the update removes the need for additional streaming software or any extra setup.

YouTube says its “Go Live” desktop feature already has been tested by creators using it to broadcast live beauty tutorials, fan updates and product reviews. It’s available today on Chrome and will be rolled out to more browsers soon.

In addition to the new desktop livestreaming feature, YouTube says it will be adding a similar mobile livestreaming tool to the camera app on Asus, LG, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung devices in the coming months.

“Our goal is to bring this feature to even more device manufacturers throughout the year through the new YouTube Mobile Live deep link,” writes Lavrusik.
