Twitter expanding Featured Tweets and response time tests to more brands

One test tells users how responsive brands are, and another lets brands show their best tweets on profile pages.

While any Twitter user can feature a single tweet at the top of his/her profile page, Twitter is testing a way for some accounts — brands and publishers, from what we’ve seen so far — to feature a collection of top tweets.

The “Featured Tweets” tab is one of two new features that Twitter is testing on profile/account pages. The other is an additional line below the profile description that tells users how quick an account is to respond to tweets. Both tests were spotted earlier this month by The Next Web when a small number of accounts were using them. But Twitter is now letting more brands test both features.

With the “Featured Tweets” test, users landing on a Twitter profile are shown this new tab, which includes a collection of tweets that are manually curated by the brand. You can see it in action on @ATTCares and @AlaskaAir profiles, among others. AT&T has selected a number of tweets to feature that date back to late May and don’t appear in chronological order. When the featured tweets end, Twitter shows all of the brand’s tweets — the same experience that can be had by clicking on the “Tweets” tab.

On that same profile, you can also see the new customer service data below the description telling visitors that @ATTCares is “most responsive 4am-11pm.” This, we presume, is generated algorithmically based on when the account most often replies to other Twitter users.

The new test features are visible both on desktop and in Twitter’s mobile apps, the latter of which is shown in the screenshot below.
