Roughly one week ago, a few changes slid through the Facebook Power Editor Interface and into the hands of marketers. These changes included a better preview pane for News Feeds ads and a new bulk import option for specific ad targeting types.

The changes that rolled out on September 4th should enable advertisers to use ads with more dark posts. Instead of creating the post and promoting, this improved view in power editor will help marketers create these dark posts for ad use only. The new ad types that will feature previews within Power Editor are:

  • Clicks To Website
  • Website Conversions
  • Page Post Engagement
  • Mobile App Installs
  • Mobile App Engagement
  • Desktop App Installs
  • Desktop App Engagement
  • Offer Claims
  • Event Responses (Event needs to have been previously created)
  • Video Views

The new functionality will now allow advertisers to preview the ads during the creation process (right within Power Editor), edit the ads and bulk import News Feed ads. Previously, these ads were linked to a specific page posts and were not editable. With the new functionality these posts will have the ability to be edited, exported and imported. A Facebook rep gave InsideFacebook the following statement:

[blockquote]With this change, advertisers can now create News Feed ads at scale, preview them during creation, edit them at any time, and bulk import/export them.[/blockquote]

If a page is created first then promoted however, it will not be able to be edited. This change is rolling out globally over the coming weeks. For more information, see InsideFacebook.
