Yahoo Is About To Do A Garage Sale For 100+ Unused Domains

yahoo-y-logo-2013Unwanted and unused goods are a staple of garage sales, but it usually involves things like old clothes, games, toys and maybe even some old electronics. And that stuff usually fetches a fraction of the original price.

Yahoo found some unwanted and unused goods, and is putting them up for auction.

The big difference in Yahoo’s garage sale is that it’s selling some premium domains and they’re going to sell for a lot more than what they cost to register.

Yahoo is calling this week-long auction “Domainapalooza,” and it all starts tomorrow. The auction will end on November 21st.

Some of the 100+ domains that’ll be sold are AV.com, Jockeys.com, Sandwich.com and Crackers.com.

There are currently only 29 Yahoo domains listed on Sedo’s website, with the lowest price range running from $1,000 to $4,999 (for domains like batoota.com and cyberjokes.com). The spendiest right now is that first one I mentioned above, AV.com, with a price range of $1 million to $1.5 million. Most of the domains seem to be listed in the $10k to $25k range.

A company of Yahoo’s size certainly isn’t going to get rich(er) by selling domains for five-figures each, and the company is even positioning this garage sale a bit altruistically when it says it hopes that “creative people, businesses and entrepreneurs could come up with something great to do with them. They could even spark some brand new ideas or companies.”
