UNILAD takes back lead as top video creator in April, but video views down across the board

After holding the lead for eight months, UNILAD dropped to No. 4 in March. Last month, it won back the top spot, but view numbers were down.

UNILAD regained the No. 1 spot on Tubular Labs’ top 10 list of the most viewed video creators for April. After eight months in the lead, it had dropped to No. 4 in March. Earning 2.9 billion video views last month, the video publisher is back on top.

The 2.9 billion video views UNILAD earned in April was actually 2 million below its March numbers, when the video publisher ranked No. 4. According to Tubular Labs’ data, video views were down across the board in April, with the top 100 brands and creators generating a combined 60 billion views — 10 billion fewer than the 70 billion views earned in March.

The LAD Bible, which won 4 million fewer views in April than in March, dropped to second place, with 2.8 billion total views.

BuzzFeed’s Tasty — a video creator that had consistently ranked in the top 10 — completely dropped off the list last month after falling to No. 7 in March. In July 2017, Tasty lost its No. 1 spot to UNILAD after holding the lead for seven straight months. Since then, it has slipped down the top 10 list.

Most brand creator video numbers suffered as well last month. Red Bull and Lego both kept the top two spots, but Red Bull saw 30 million fewer views compared to March and Lego 21 million fewer views.

Uber actually gained 20 million views, moving it up to the No. 3 spot after ranking No. 7 in March.
