tech200-2013The online marketing industry has numerous companies represented on the 2013 Tech 200, a list of the fastest-growing private companies in the US.

The list is put together annually by Lead411 and features self-reported company data. To qualify, companies must be US-based, be private and have at least $1 million in revenue in the past year. But the rankings are based on revenue growth over a three-year period — this year’s list covers growth from 2010 through 2012.

There are at least a couple dozen digital marketing companies on the list (which isn’t broken out by industry/service/product, unfortunately), but here are the ones that I spotted just in the top 50:

3. 3DCart
5. AdRoll
11. OneScreen
13. RocketFuel
14. TubeMogul
16. HasOffers
17. Increase Visibility
31. ActivEngage
32. HubSpot
35. Marin Software
46. Mobifusion

(Note: That list may be incomplete since there are companies listed whose names I don’t recognize immediately.)

The Tech 200 also includes a survey each year that asks the companies about their own marketing efforts. As in past years, the top four marketing tactics with the highest ROI for these companies were:

  • SEO
  • Email marketing
  • Trade shows
  • Online ads

The survey also reveals that Salesforce is the most popular CRM platform these companies are using, Marketo is the top automation tool, and Mailchimp is the number-one email marketing tool.
