NBC Stunt Promotes Stanley Cup Coverage By Surprising Hockey Fans With The Actual Stanley Cup
The sports network partnered with Stun Creative to give hockey enthusiasts in a focus group the shock of a lifetime.
To hype its coverage of the Stanley Cup playoffs, NBC Sports Network, with help from Stun Creative, orchestrated a faux focus group for hockey fans and then gave them a gigantic surprise.
Hockey fans were enlisted to attend a focus group at which they were asked what the Stanley Cup meant to them and why they love hockey so much. Once their session ended, they were ushered into another room to, ostensibly, fill out some paperwork.
But that ruse quickly gave way to overwhelming excitement when the focus group attendees realized the actual Stanley Cup was right there in the room with them. Check it out:
Since its appearance on May 29, the video has amassed 21,000 views on YouTube. But the real action is on Facebook where it has been viewed 570,000 times and has achieved 6,038 shares and 2,345 likes:
In addition to Facebook, NBC Sports posted the video on Twitter:
