Microsoft announced strong fiscal Q3 results earlier this afternoon. The company reported revenues of $17.4 billion, which was a 6 percent improvement from a year ago. Net income was $5.11 billion.

The Online Services Division, which houses Bing and AdCenter, reported revenue of $707 million. There was another loss of $479 million, but that was a roughly $300 million improvement vs a year ago ($776 million).

Entertainment and devices also showed a loss of $229 million. Microsoft said it sold 1.4 million consoles in fiscal Q3. But sales were down 48 percent over last year. The company’s Xbox maintained the leading console market share (42 percent).

Microsoft didn’t specifically discuss sales of Windows Phones (or Lumia 900) beyond mentioning the launch. Earlier today Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said that “actual sales results [for Lumia 900] have been mixed” so far.

Below is a summary of the Microsoft’s results:

Performance for both Office (Business Division) and enterprise services and software (Server and Tools) was also strong. The PC market also showed signs of life. Microsoft said the PC market grew 2 percent to 4 percent, though its own Windows revenues outpaced the overall market.
