Need more evidence of Facebook’s mobile bonafides?

Today Internet measurement and advertising company Quantcast said Facebook is responsible for 24% of mobile referrals to top news and entertainment sites. That’s more than all other social media networks combined.

Quantcast drew its conclusion from 12 months of data from the top 250 publishers that use the free Quantcast Measure service.

Here’s the chart:

Quantcast’s analysis:

Facebook is showing us where to find content on mobile, and it’s also providing the platform to consume that content; Facebook’s in-app browser is now the leading third-party browser on iOS. For a recent re/code article, we found that in-app browsing is responsible for 24% of iOS pageviews. The Facebook app was responsible for half of that figure, or 12% of all iOS browsing. That’s three times the pageviews of the next-largest browser, Chrome for iOS.

Facebook, which already draws 59% of its advertising revenue from mobile ads, is poised to continue its growth on that front. On Wednesday, the company is hosting developers at its F8 conference in San Francisco and is expected to announce the creation of a mobile ad network.
