Well, here’s a fun one. Check out this bit of genius from Bolthouse Farms, which aims to right the imbalance of food porn that has swept the internet since the advent of social media and, more recently, Instagram.

Entitled Food Porn Index, the project, created by ad agency Tiny Rebellion, analyzes the hashtags associated with food-related posts across social media channels and aims to become the first head-to-head tracker of society’s real-time food porn sharing habits.

When you first visit the site, you are presented with the fact that about 70% of food porn pictures are of the unhealthy variety while 30% are considered healthy. You are then presented with a running tally of hashtags used in food porn posts such as #carrot, #mushroom, #kale, etc., representing healthy food porn and #donut, #pie, #fried, etc., representing unhealthy food porn.

You can then click on each food category/hashtag and enjoy visual/musical representations of various foods such as the Bacon Shake, the Grape Galaxy, Brussell Ballet, Pizza Bot and many more. Which, of course, you can share.

For healthy food porn, you are encouraged to share the selection across social media. For unhealthy food porn, you are told to “think before you tweet.”

It’s a visual panoply of fun and frivolity but there’s also a subtle suggestion that maybe, just maybe, you should think twice about what you consider food porn and whether or not you should be gloriously broadcasting the fact you’re eating crap when you could, instead, be eating something far more healthy.

Have you seen a great piece of creative that’s worthy of sharing? If so, we’d love to highlight it here. Please send submissions to [email protected].
